Guidelines for submitting work (children)Alphabet Soup's print magazine has closed. The final issue was the autumn 2013 issue. We are therefore no longer accepting children's work for publication in the print magazine. HOWEVER ... Alphabet Soup's blog is continuing. On the blog you will find news about books and book events, author and illustrator interviews, book reviews, writing competitions and writing and artwork by children under 13. If you’d like to send your work for consideration, please read the following guidelines. We will publish the best work on Alphabet Soup's blog! You no longer need to include a cover sheet (permission form) with your work but your parent or guardian will need to write a short note saying ‘I give permission for XX’s work to be published online’ and sign it. And they need to include an email address so that we can notify you when your work will be on the blog. The short note can be typed in an email (without a signature) if your parent’s name is clearly part of their email address (e.g. if your dad’s name is John Smith and his email is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it then we would accept his permission if it is just typed in an email to us. But if his email is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it then you would need to email us a scan of his signed permission, or post or fax it (along with your work) to us instead. We want to make sure we have your parents’ permission before we put your work online! Work can be emailed to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. TeachersIf your class has written reviews, poems, or stories all on the same topic or theme, please send us a selection of the best. We are unable to publish 30 pieces on a similar theme. Thank you for encouraging your students' imaginations! If your work is accepted for publication on the blog, we will publish your name, age, and state (and country, if outside Australia), unless you advise us otherwise. There are some subjects that are not suitable for Alphabet Soup. We will not publish writing that includes violence, swearing, or content that we consider is inappropriate for our readers. |
