GENERAL SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Alphabet Soup is a literary magazine for primary-school aged children. Our current subscriber base includes Australian families, grandparents, teachers, school libraries and public libraries. We also have a small number of overseas subscribers.

We accept work from established and emerging writers. Please contact the Editor regarding remuneration.

There are some subjects that are not suitable for our magazine. We will not publish writing that includes violence, swearing, or content that we consider is inappropriate for our readers. (Please remember your main audience: Australian children aged 6 to 12.)

Stories

No longer than 500 words.

Poems

No longer than 40 lines.

Nonfiction

We are not currently publishing nonfiction articles.

Where do I send my work?

Please include your name, contact address, telephone number and email address in your submission. You may paste your writing in the body of your email, or attach a .doc document or PDF. Do not send attachments in .docx format. Your writing should be single spaced.

Submission of work does not guarantee publication. Acceptance of manuscripts is at the discretion of the Editor. If accepted, your writing will appear in a future issue of the magazine and this may not be the next issue.
